If you're serious about buying a good quality tablet, get an Intuos3 for sure, you'll know why when you try it. They range from 4x6 all the way to 12x19, but I'd suggest sticking with the smaller ones as well (4x6, 6x8 or 6x11).

Wacom also make low to mid range tablets, if you can live without the extra features and the halved pressure sensitivity. Have a look at the Bamboo and the Graphire line on their official site.

In any case, Wacom makes it pretty clear they know what they're doing when it comes to tablets, so stick with their products and you can't go wrong. =]

Wacoms have come way down in price since I bought my ArtZ II 11-12 years ago. My 6x8 was $450 back then. It's around here someplace. It's just been so long since I've used it... I was using a a tablet notebook instead for awhile... I forgot where I put it.

I was actually looking at something something like the cintiq, because I'm under the impression that a display upon which you can use your stylus would feel most natural, no?

Did you have any comments on the tablet's maintenance and durability, out of curiosity? >_>

Unless something has changed pretty much all the Wacom products have been, in both mine and friends’ experiences, as tough as old boots and have lasted longer than a carton of dog's milk.

Or, to put it another way, they last well and will put up with a lot of stick on the way.

No maintenance required. You get extra nibs with the pen that you might have to change once in a great while... and that's about it. I'm looking at the Cintiq too. In fact, I've had a post card for the Cintiq 21UX on on my bulletin board as a sort of wish list since Siggraph at least two, maybe three years ago... whenever Wacom was in booth 919 at Siggraph anyway. I'm looking at the post card now, and I recognize the GUI in the picture as Maya which is my latest creative toy of choice, so I'm drooling considerably... and the Cintiq is holding up remarkably well against my drool.

EDIT: Okay we have Wacom Intuos 3 (big ones) in all our edit bays, and I just asked a couple of our editors why they prefer Intuos over Cintiq (they can have whatever tools they want). Our starting aspect ratio on anything is 16x9, and so they all work across two monitors. They say the Intuos gives them more flexibility to do so than a Cintiq would. So bottom line... I guess it really depends on your application and needs whether an Intuos or a Cintiq would be better.

Cintiqs are still on the very high-end of the tablet spectrum, but if you can afford one and you want one really bad, then definitely go for it.

On a side note, added a new video to the first post.

It's a good thing I gave up on drawing a long time ago, I still have my semicolons to comfort me.

Your girls are very attractive. Now all you need is a high-profile internet friend and a glossy printer...

Love it, of course, though the girl you like is still my fave, but Sab... I have to have that music... Ave Maria. When I was really young, I wanted to be a Catholic just because of that one song. And it continues to give me goosebumps all these years later. I love that mix and I must have it. Where can I get it? Thanks!

Absolutely amazing, as anything else I've ever seen you really put time into Sab. I can say from experience that #2 is perfectly accurate. Badass man, seriously.

It took a while for me to track that one down too, but I ended up just ripping it from another Youtube video. Amazon has the actual CD though:

Thank you so much for the link. I just bought the MP3 from Amazon for 99 cents, and I'm as happy as a monkey in a banana farm.

Now I'll just watch for more of your pictures... with our without the speed painting videos (that I love), I want to see more of your work.

Loving the new paintings, keep them coming!

In other news, my Cintiq 12WX came in today (Thanks, Guild Wars PVP!), would DEFINITELY recommend it to anyone seriously looking into the art field, it's quite amazing. ^_^
